RECRUITING

The recruiting process is one of the most stressful and challenging times for players and families trying to navigate and make plans for their futures.

When it comes to high school programs where players can opt to play in the Midwest, the Rays program separates itself due to its personal recruiting efrorst for each player. The personal communication done by picking up the phone with college baseball coaches by our staff insures each player will be recruited to a school that is their best “fit.”

The recruiting cycle can be a very stressful time for players and we are going to do everything we can to make this process as easy and stress free as possible. We are going to have personal communication with each player talking them through the process and helping them reach out to college coaches.

Some of the things we offer will consist of a sit-down meeting with the athlete, and the parents, to determine where help is needed. This customization will allow the athlete to have an active voice in planning of which schools to target. Criteria areas that are looked at in schools for the athlete, are college course work, student life, fit for athletic ability and coaching staff. Some of the services available are listed below. Recommendations on camps and showcases will also be provided.

  • Recruitment Videos
  • Sample letters and guidelines to help you get started
  • Calls to Coaches on your behalf (Where your talent level matches)
  • Q & A Sessions to help take the stress out of the recruitment process
  • Fieldlevel account Managed by Velocity/GRB North

Overall the athletes need to have the right fit and we are going to work tirelessly with the athlete and parents to find the right place for them to attend college. We are going to take pride in making this process as smooth as possible and allowing our athlete’s hard work take them to the next level.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER PROFILES

  • The GRB Rays have individual player profiles for all players within their program on the brand new Rays team page. All high school players from the 15U – 17U age groups will have detailed player information (statistical information, academic information and contact information) along with videos used for recruiting purposes.
  • Each year, the Rays coaching staff sends out scouting reports to college coaches in the country at all levels with detailed information on each player. These player profiles will be included in the scouting report to allow college coaches direct access to see all of our players at the click of a button.
  • We feel these individual player profiles will provide a great value to all players when it comes to recruiting. With the fluid NCAA recruiting rules, player recruiting videos are becoming increasingly important to player exposure.
  • In 2021 and 2022, Rays players videos and player profiles had over 1 million impressions and views via YouTube and the Rays website, offering an unmatched level of exposure for our players.

GRB RAYS PROGRAM FAQS

The GRB Rays staff will begin the evaluation process immediately following the tryouts. Our goal is to extend roster invitations within 24 hours, although some age groups may require more evaluation time. More roster invitations will be extended within 48 hours of the tryout. After the tryout, you will only be immediately notified if you have been invited to join the program. If you would like feedback after your tryout, you may reach out to the Rays staff.

Team fees will be released shortly

We know this is the place to play for overall player development, so we do not give players a strict 24 hours to decide to accept a roster invitation like most programs. Take a day or two to talk it over with your family. If you do decide to play with the Rays, we would appreciate a confirmation within the 24-48 hour window.

We plan to have two team at each age level from the 9U to the 18U level. Although due to the high caliber of player at tryouts, we may have more teams at a given age level if the talent level demands it.

To ensure all players have an equal opportunity to show their skills to the Rays staff, we will make specific team rosters towards the end of January – early February time frame.

Practices will typically begin the second weekend of November for the High School levels and December for the Youth levels and will run until the start of the season for each the youth and the start of the high school season for the older ages. We will take off some weekend for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Practices are not mandatory, but we strongly encourage all players to attend to get the most opportunity for player development.
