Despite cold weather and snow blanketing much of the country, it was Opening Weekend for many college baseball teams, finally. Several GRB Rays alums suited up and found their way into lineups continuing their collegiate careers with others beginning their collegiate careers. Several others will be getting underway this week. Below we will highlight some of the performances from this past weekend by former Rays players.

 JACK WASHBURN appeared in two games for Oregon State over the weekend. Washburn earned the win against Gonzaga on Sunday throwing 1.2 innings in relief. Overall, Washburn finished with 2.0 innings pitched with a strikeout for the Beavers.

JEFF HOLTZ took the first pitch he saw in a Xavier uniform and deposited into the left-field bleachers. Holtz finished the weekend 2-for-10 with a run, home run and two RBIs as the Muskateers took two-of-three at Texas A&M.

In the same weekend, MATT DePREY made his collegiate debut for Xavier with a hard hit fly ball to left field.

TREVOR OLSON threw three innings in relief for Xavier. Olson allowed three hits an earned run and struck out three.

TYLER CHADWICK made his collegiate debut with a relief appearance for West Virginia. Chadwick went 1.2 innings allowing a hit with a strikeout.

LOGAN MICHAELS went 2-for-9 in Virginia’s season opening series win against UCONN. Michaels scored a run along with two RBIs while being hit by two pitches and walking twice.

STEPHEN LUND started two games for Gonzaga over the weekend. Lund was behind the dish and also as a DH as the Zags opened the season 2-1 with Lund going 2-for-6 with two runs and two walks.

KEATON KNUEPPEL made his debut with Tulane throwing a scoreless inning with a strikeout against Louisiana Lafayette.

COLTEN SCHILD went 2-for-8 for Saint Louis in their opening weekend series at Kennesaw State. Schild scored two runs to go along with a double and RBI and three walks.

MITCHELL WOLFLE threw 1.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout for Air Force against Louisiana Tech.
