Rays alums are off and running as almost all programs have started their 2025 campaigns. This week also saw our Pro Rays take part in Major League Baseball’s Spring Breakout game as well. Here are some highlights from the past week.
ALAN RODEN (Blue Jays), GEORGE KLASSEN (Angels), JOSH CARON (Mariners) and MAX WAGNER (Orioles) all took part in the Major League Baseball Spring Breakout Games. The Breakout Games are a series of games featuring the top prospects in all of the MLB. Roden hit an RBI double off the wall, Klassen threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout, Caron hit a single and Wagner started at third base for the Orioles.
Morningside RHP TIAGO SANCHEZ turned in a career outing as he struck out 10 batters against Briar Cliff. Sanchez went six innings scattering four hits and allowing two earned. For the season, Sanchez is 2-0 with 23 strike outs in 16 innings pitched.
GABE ROESSLER pounded out two hits in each of Milwaukee’s three games at Youngstown State. Roessler included two home runs, one of which was a Grand Slam. The senior now has four homer runs on the season. Fellow Rays alum TATE SCHMIDT also had hits in all three, totaling five on the weekend. Schmidt had two doubles and is batting .333 on the year. JUSTIN HAUSSER went 4-for-5 on Friday.
Maryville Soph. RHP BRADEN SMITH continued his dominant Spring. Smith tallied six strike outs in seven innings, while allowing a lone earned run. On the season Smith has a 1.63 ERA with 31 strike outs in 27.2 innings pitched.
ELIJAH FRANK had doubles in every game for UW-Whitewater on their trip to Florida. Frank finished with nine hits and seven RBI and is now batting .441 on the season.
DOMINIC KIBLER homered twice on Friday. Both homers were three-run shots as Kent State won big over Hofstra.
BRIGS RICHARTZ had six hits over the weekend for St. Thomas. The senior launched his first homer of the season and drove in five runs to go along with two doubles.
CAL McGINNIS extended his hitting streak to five games after hitting in both games played this weekend. McGinnis doubled in a run and is hitting .340 on the season.
JAKE SCHAFFNER went 4-for-10 for North Dakota State as they took two-of-three from Oral Roberts. Schaffner is now hitting .375 for the Bison. Fellow Rays alum DAVIS HAMILTON hit his first homer of the season.
Oklahoma State freshman RHP NOAH WECH went two scoreless against Dallas Baptist with two strikeouts. Wech now has 14 punchies in 11.2 innings.
EDISON ALONSO has started on fire going 14-for-24 with eight runs scored, eight RBIs a homer and four stolen bases. QUINN FALISH made his Madison College debut with a 6.1 inning, one hit, zero earned and three strike out performance against Mesa CC in Arizona. HOWIE RICKETT has started 5-for-16 with a homer and three RBIs.
JOEY NERAT had three hits, three RBIs and three stolen bases in Dallas Baptists’ three-out-of-four weekend. Nerat is batting .309 on the season.
LIAM MORENO hit his second homer of the season for St. Cloud State.
ANGEL RADES continued his hot hitting, raising his average to .481 on the season for UW-Parkside. Rades pounded out two doubles and drove in four.
JACKSON HUNLEY hit his second homer of the season for Lewis Univ.
LOGAN DUNN had two hits, including a double and a stolen base for Missouri State.
