2023 Week 1 Alumni Roundup

As we complete Week4 of the College Baseball schedule, more former Rays got their seasons underway. Below are some highlights from Rays alums over the past week:

STEPHEN LUND went 3-for-10 over the weekend for North Dakota State. Lund belted two homers and drove in four runs at Texas State. The graduate transfer is now up to three homers on the season.

Rays alum and McHenry CC RHP AARON RICE made two appearances on the season. Rice has allowed a lone earned run in six innings with 10 strikeouts.

GEOGER KLASSEN made two appearances over the week for Minnesota. The sophomore RHP went 6.1 innings, allowing five hits with 10 strikeouts, including eight punch outs at West Virginia. On the year, Klassen has struck out 18 batters in 13 innings. Fellow teammate BRADY JURGELLA hit a go-ahead RBI double against South Dakota State. Jurgella had two doubles on the weekend.

RILEY FREY was a tough-luck loser for MiIlwaukee at Murray State. The junior lefty went six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out three. Frey has 21 strikeouts in 23 innings with a 2.74 ERA for the Panthers.

St. Cloud State senior JOHN NETT continued his torrid start to the 2023 season. Nett went 6-for-15 with a triple runs scored and three walks. Nett is now batting .500 on the year. Fellow Huskiy JACK HABECK threw six innings, scattering four hits while allowing two runs at Nova Southeastern.

CHRISTIAN OPPOR struck out six batters in four inning for Gulf Coast State. Oppor now has 42 strikeouts in 27 innings on the season.

Northern Kentucky junior BRYCE MILLER swatted his first home run of the season at Texas A&M.

Madison College got their season underway with a 6-0 start with a bunch of former Rays on the field. CARSON SHEPARD went 3-for-7 with a double and three RBIs. NICK WEST went four innings and allowed a lone earned run with four strikeouts. NICK NOWAK finished 2-for-6 with an RBI while TRACE KIRCHBERG also finished 2-for-6 with three RBIs. GABE ROESSLER went 3-for-7 with a double and two runs scored.

MATTHEW DePREY hit his sixth homer of the season for Xavier, while ETHAN BOSACKER went five innings striking out four batters. Bosacker now has 24 strikeouts in 23 innings with a 2.35 ERA.

DAVIS ZEUTZIUS threw three innings, scattering two hits with a strikeout in two appearances for Winona State.

CONNOR MANTHEY went 4-for-8 with four runs scored and an RBI double for Bradley.

Nebraska backstop JOSH CARON went 3-for-11 with a double, RBI and four runs scored against Illinois State.

CARTER ENDISCH threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout for Quincy.

ASHTON MICHEK threw 3.1 innings with two strikeouts for Augustana. Michek is now up to 15 strikeouts in 16 innings with a 2.81 ERA on the year.

CARTER BORCHERDING went 1-2 with two walks and two stolen bases against Mississippi College.
