2022 Week 5 Alumni Roundup

With College Baseball in full swing, Rays alums took the field all across the country in Week 5. Here are some of the highlights from this past week. Be sure to head over the Rays Twitter account to vote for your Rays alumni Player of the Week!

DRAKE BALDWIN hit the ball all around and out of the yard this past week. The Missouri State backstop went 7-for-16 with a homer, five doubles and nine RBIs. Baldwin scored five runs with two walks and is now batting .362 with four homers on the season. Teammate CAM CRATIC also had a great week going 6-for-11 with a double and three RBIs and four runs scored. Cratic has raised his average to .327 for the season.

Five former Rays helped Madison College to their best start to a season in school history. BRADY JURGELLA (.448 avg., 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR 3-3 SB), GABE ROESSLER (.458 avg., 1 HR, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3-3 SB), CAM DuPONT (3-for-6, 1 2B), SPENCER BARTEL (.333 avg., 1 3B) and EDDIE SAUCEDO (.250 avg., 1 2B) have led the Wolpack to a 10-1 record in Arizona.

MAX WAGNER went deep for the fifth time this season for Clemson. The sophomore third baseman went 4-for-11 with a homer, four runs, five RBIs and a walk in the Tigers’ weekend set vs. Miami. Wagner is now hitting .346 on the season.

MATT DePREY extended his hitting streak to four games as the sophomore catcher went 5-for-12 in Xaviers weekend series against Indiana. DePrey added three runs and two RBIs and is now hitting .313 on the season. Teammate TREVOR OLSON went five innings allowing only one hit while striking out six.

OWEN WASHBURN went 6-for-14 with two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored for Texas Tech. The freshman is now batting .351 on the year for the Red Raiders.

Mississipi pitcher JACK WASHBURN went five innings, scattering four hits while allowing a lone earned run. Washburn struck out five and now has 21 strikeouts in 17 innings on the season with a 1.59 ERA.

JACK OLVER started out the 2022 season on fire batting .667 (16-for-27) for UW-La Crosse. The sophomore lefty has a homer, three doubles and seven runs scored with 11 RBIs. Teammate ANTHONY VIVIAN is 8-for-21 with a homer, six RBIs and six runs scored for the Eagles.

SAM BEERS has a great week going 9-for-15 with two doubles, a triple, seven runs scored and five RBIs. Beers is now hitting .370 on the season for Concordia, Wis.

ELIOT TURNQUIST threw four innings allowing only a hit with four strikeouts for Milwaukee against Penn State. Fellow teammate RILEY FREY took the loss, throwing 5.1 innings scattering five hits, allowing two earned runs with two strikeouts against the Nitney Lions.

CONOR MANTHEY went 6-for-14 with two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored for Bradley this past week. CAL McGINNIS went 4-for-16 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two walks for the Braves.

STEPHEN LUND went 3-for-12 for No. 20-ranked Gonzaga in the Zags weekend sweep of Pacific. Lund had a double, three runs scored and four RBIs.

ALAN RODEN helped Creighton to a weekend sweep of Minnesota. Roden went 3-for-12 with a triple, two walks and an RBI. Roden is now hititng .358 on the year.

JAK BERG went 3-for-11 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored for Jacksonville.

BRYCE MILLER hit his second homer of the season for Jefferson CC. Miller went 2-for-3 against Mineral Area CC.

REGAN KLAWITER threw 6 innings, allowing four hits with two earned runs and a strikeout for Northern Illinois.

WILL SEMB made two appearances for Minnesota at Creighton. The sophomore right-hander tossed 1.1 innings allowing an earned run and a strikeout. Semb now has 19 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched.
