2022 Week 3 Alumni Roundup
College Baseball is in full swing with Rays alums at all divisions taking the field, some for the first time this season. Week 3 was a great week for for former Rays players as alums hit balls out of the ballpark and helped their squads to wins over Top-5 opponents on the Road. Here are some of the highlights from Week 3 of the College Baseball season.
STEPHEN LUND went 4-for-8 with a 2-run homer as Gonzaga took the first two games of a series at No. 4-ranked Oklahoma State. Lund is now hitting .324 on the year, leading the 8-2 Bulldogs in hitting.
OWEN WASHBURN continues to be on a tear for Texas Tech. The freshman outfielder went 8-for-19 with two home runs, a double, two walks and seven RBIs. Washburn is hitting .372 on the season, good for second on the team.
DRAKE BALDWIN smacked two home runs in Missouri State’s midweek game at Kansas. Baldwin finished the weekend 3-for-12 with two home runs, three runs and four RBIs.
ANDREW BROCKWELL made his collegiate debut on the mound for Western Kentucky. The freshman right hander threw a scoreless inning allowing a hit while striking out one.
A pair of Xavier Musketeers went deep of the weekend. MATT DePREY went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer against USC Upstate while JEFF HOLTZ went 1-for-2 with a home run at Northern Kentucky.
NICK HERBST started to get hot over the weekend going 6-for-15 with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored for Winona State.
MAX WAGNER helped Clemson to a three-game sweep of rival South Carolina. The sophomore 3B went 2-for-11 with an RBI double and two walks. On the season, Wagner is hitting .367 for the 10-0 Tigers.
SAM BEERS got the 2022 season off on the right foot going 3-for-9 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs for Concordia, Wis. Beers is coming off a 2021 season where he was named a Division III All-American.
ANDRES KLEINSEK threw two innings pitched, scattering three hits while striking out two for Bryant & Stratton. Kleinsek has not allowed an earned run through nine innings pitched on the season. CARTER HIGHLINE allowed only one hit in one inning pitched.
QUINN BERGLIN went 1-for-6 with two RBIs and four walks for Lawrence in their season opener. Berglin also threw four innings allowing two hits with five strikeouts.
A pair of Rays alums were upwards of 96-99 mph for the Minnesota Gophers over the weekend. WILL SEMB went four innings over three appearances allowing only a hit with five strikeouts. GEORGE KLASSEN touched 99 mph in his third start back from Tommy John surgery throwing an inning against Notre Dame.
JACK WASHBURN started and threw five innings for Mississippi against Louisiana-Monroe. Washburn allowed one hit with seven strikeouts and now has 12 strikeouts in nine innings for the Rebels.
JOSH CARON got his first collegiate start behind the plate for Nebraska. The freshman went 2-for-6 with two walks and two runs for the Cornhuskers.
JOSH HAUSSER went 2-for-4 with two walks for Milwaukee at BYU. The freshman 1B is hitting .500 (4-for-8) on the season for the Panthers.
REAGAN KLAWITER threw six innings scattering six hits while allowing two earned runs while striking out five for Northern Illinois.
